Point Comfort Art Fair + Show: The Black Atlantic
Dec 02, 2026 - Dec 06, 2026
Daily through Dec 06, 2026
From: Noon to 6:00 PM
This Miami Art Week, Point Comfort returns to the heart of Historic Overtown with five days of art, music, conversation, and community. Presented by Hampton Art Lovers, The Black Atlantic celebrates the creative connections linking Africa, Europe, the Caribbean, and the Americas, and the artists who made those connections visible.
THE FEATURED EXHIBITION
Loïs Mailou Jones: Across the Black Atlantic
Selections from The Norwood Collection
Historic Ward Rooming House Gallery · December 2–6
Few American artists traveled the Black Atlantic like Loïs Mailou Jones (1905–1998). From Howard University to Paris, Haiti, and across Africa, Jones forged a visual language where European modernism, African aesthetics, Caribbean culture, and African American experience meet. This exhibition traces her extraordinary journey, including her celebrated Les Fétiches (1938), alongside works by artists shaped by her legacy: Elizabeth Catlett, David C. Driskell, Wadsworth Jarrell, and Bisa Butler.
THE INDABA LOUNGE SERIES
Art. Music. Conversation. Community.
Named for the African tradition of indaba, a gathering to exchange ideas, this five-day series brings artists, collectors, scholars, and audiences together at two of Overtown’s most distinctive spaces: the intimate Historic Ward Rooming House Gallery & Gardens and The Pool Hall at Red Rooster Overtown, a speakeasy-style lounge at 914 NW 2nd Avenue that is home to a permanent installation of original Ernie Barnes works.
