Program II: Bridges NOT Walls
May 09, 2026
Starting: 7:00 PM
A socially driven contemporary dance program brings immigration, political history and human connection into focus through bold choreography and multimedia design.
Dance NOW! Miami Program II: Bridges NOT Walls takes place Sunday, March 15 at the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center, featuring the return of Dance NOW! Miami’s acclaimed one-act work Bridges NOT Walls. Originally premiered in 2017, the piece explores themes of migration, division and communication through movement, original video art and an evocative musical score. Choreographed by artistic directors Hannah Baumgarten and Diego Salterini, the work has evolved through international residencies and performances in Mexico and Italy, reflecting its global perspective and continued relevance.
Program II also includes the world premiere of Baumgarten’s 1933, a cabaret-inspired work examining the rise of Adolf Hitler, along with Strings of Goodbye, a duet by Salterini, and Forest Dreams by West Coast choreographer Tandy Beal, presented as part of Dance NOW! Miami’s Masterpiece in Motion series. Together, the evening’s program highlights the company’s ongoing commitment to pairing contemporary dance with pointed social commentary and artistic range.
