Public Art Tour: Miami Design District

Outdoor installations and large-scale murals provide a route through the art and architectural history of the Miami Design District. Offered Saturday, November 7, and Saturday, November 21, this recurring, hourlong walking tour begins at Palm Court Plaza. The route includes Buckminster Fuller’s Fly’s Eye Dome, Virgil Abloh’s Dollar a Gallon and Criola’s Interdimensional Portal, among other works.

The tour places these works in the context of the neighborhood’s public spaces. At Jungle Plaza, Brazilian artist Criola’s monumental mural depicts four mirrored figures surrounded by plants, hummingbirds and serpents, drawing on Afro-Brazilian cultural and religious imagery.

Admission is free, with RSVP available through Eventbrite. Participants meet in front of the Fly’s Eye Dome on the ground level of Palm Court, entered at 140 NE 39th Street.
