A sociology professor’s attempted return to the classroom unravels into a tense examination of authority, vulnerability and the ways individuals reproduce the power structures they oppose. Presented as part of the 40th International Hispanic Theatre Festival of Miami, Pundonor runs Friday, September 18 through Sunday, September 20 for three performances at the Adrienne Arsht Center. The Argentine production is presented by Teatro Avante and the Arsht Center.
Andrea Garrote stars as Claudia Pérez Espinosa, a university professor returning from an extended leave whose carefully planned lecture is repeatedly disrupted by her fragile emotional state. As she struggles to explain her absence, the classroom becomes the setting for an increasingly unpredictable confrontation with professional identity, institutional power and personal crisis.
Written by Garrote and directed by Garrote and Rafael Spregelburd, the production will be performed in Spanish.
