Realism: Paintings and Sculptures
Nov 05, 2026 - Apr 03, 2027
Daily through Apr 03, 2027
Representational painting and sculpture from the late 1960s through 2025 come together in an exhibition examining how artists have continued to engage realism after the rise of modern and abstract art. On view November 5 through April 3 at The Margulies Collection at the Warehouse, the exhibition brings together works by Dennis Adams, Eric Bainbridge, Gilles Barbier, Folkert de Jong, Hugo McCloud, Kaz Oshiro, George Segal and others.
The show moves among several approaches to realism, from photorealistic paintings by artists including Davis Cone, Randy Dudley, John Salt and Jacob Rochester to more surreal and imaginative figures by de Jong and Barbier. Rather than treating realism as a single style or historical period, the exhibition considers how artists use highly skilled techniques to render both observed reality and imagined worlds.
Highlights include Bainbridge’s Occurrence on an Endless Column, a playful response to Constantin Brancusi’s Endless Column, and Oshiro’s Washer/Dryer, which uses painted canvas to imitate the appearance of an everyday appliance. The exhibition is part of The Margulies Collection’s annual seasonal refresh at its Wynwood warehouse.
