Reflections With Ani DiFranco
Nov 22, 2026
From: 12:15 PM to 1:15 PM
Songwriting, feminism and spiritual inquiry meet in a book conversation with Grammy Award-winning musician Ani DiFranco. She appears Sunday, November 22 at Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus in downtown Miami, as part of Miami Book Fair, joined by music journalist Evelyn McDonnell, author of The World According to Joan Didion.
DiFranco’s The Spirit of Ani: Reflections on Spirituality, Feminism, Music, and Freedom, co-authored with Lauren Coyle Rosen, examines the connections between her creative work, personal experiences and evolving beliefs. Conversations ranging from queer politics to the music industry are accompanied by previously unpublished photographs, journal entries, paintings and lyrics, offering a view of the practices and ideas behind her art.
DiFranco founded Righteous Babe Records in 1990, establishing an independent platform for music that combines autobiographical writing with political and social commentary. Her work beyond recording includes the bestselling memoir No Walls and the Recurring Dream, poetry and children’s books. In 2024, she played Persephone in the Broadway production of Hadestown.
The conversation runs from 12:15–1:15 p.m. in Building 2, first floor, Room 2106. Admission is free.
