Reich, Stravinsky & Glass
Oct 24, 2026 - Oct 25, 2026
Sat: 7:30 PM | Sun: 2:00 PM
Minimalism, rhythmic drive and orchestral color shape a New World Symphony program devoted to Steve Reich, Igor Stravinsky and Philip Glass. Reich, Stravinsky & Glass takes place Saturday, October 24, and Sunday, October 25, at the New World Center in Miami Beach.
The program pairs Reich’s Three Movements for Orchestra with Stravinsky’s Symphony in Three Movements, two works that channel sharp rhythmic profiles and shifting orchestral textures. The concert concludes with Glass’ Violin Concerto No. 1, a propulsive work built on repeating patterns, lyric lines and steady momentum.
Grammy Award-winning violinist Jennifer Koh joins the New World Symphony for the Glass concerto. Known for her work across both traditional and contemporary repertoire, Koh has premiered more than 100 works and has developed projects such as Alone Together, Bach and Beyond, Bridge to Beethoven and The American Concerto, connecting classical traditions with new commissions and contemporary voices.
The concert is part of New World Symphony’s 2026-2027 season, featuring NWS Fellows in programs that place landmark orchestral works in conversation with evolving musical forms.
