Renaissance Spirit: The Music of Thomas Hormel
Jan 30, 2027
Starting: 5:00 PM
Student arrangers and performers reimagine the music of composer and multidisciplinary artist Thomas Hormel in a program spanning multiple styles and approaches. Renaissance Spirit: The Music of Thomas Hormel takes place Saturday, January 30 at the Hormel Innovation Stage as part of the Frost School of Music’s 2026-2027 season. Directed by Martin Bejerano, the concert features arrangements by winners of the Thomas Hormel Emerging Arrangers Competition alongside an original student composition inspired by one of Hormel’s artworks.
Hormel worked across music, visual art, photography and philanthropy, and the program reflects that broad creative outlook by encouraging students to reinterpret his compositions through their own musical perspectives. The concert highlights emerging Frost arrangers and musicians while connecting Hormel’s work with a new generation of artists.
Admission is free with RSVP.
