Oct 03, 2026
weekly on Saturday - Through Nov 07, 2026
From: 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM
Adult musicians of all experience levels can explore rhythm, melody, harmony, composition and improvisation in a six-week workshop series at The Moss Center. Led by South Florida guitarist, composer and educator Diego Melgar, the series runs Saturdays from October 3 through November 7 and welcomes both beginners and experienced musicians. Each session combines instruction, demonstrations, guest performers and opportunities to apply the week’s concepts through participants’ own instruments.
Workshop topics include:
- October 3: Rhythm
- October 10: Melody
- October 17: Harmony
- October 24: Production
- October 31: Movement and composing for choreography
- November 7: Improvisation
Melgar’s interdisciplinary practice brings music together with dance and visual art, and his work has appeared at the Tribeca Film Festival, III Points and Miami Beach Bandshell. He has collaborated with artists including Michael Tilson Thomas, Lauren Jauregui and Suzi Analogue, and his recent Swamp Lily project explores connections among music, movement and the South Florida landscape.
The workshops are for ages 18 and older. Participants are encouraged to bring an instrument. Individual sessions are $25, or all six may be purchased for $105.
