Rootwork: Potions and Performers
Dec 13, 2025
From: Noon to 3:00 PM
An afternoon of performance, botanicals and quiet immersion unfolds at Kampong Botanical Gardens as the space hosts Rootwork: Potions and Performers, a post-Art Week gathering shaped by movement, conversation and the lush surroundings of Coconut Grove.
The program takes place on December 13, inviting visitors to explore Rootwork, Naomi Fisher’s solo exhibition tracing twenty-five years of botanically influenced art-making and community organizing in Miami. Fisher will be on site throughout the event, offering informal walkthroughs, sharing coffee or tea with guests, and discussing the practices and environments that inform her work. The exhibition brings together new sculptures and paintings inspired by Miami’s native flora alongside archival pieces that map her long engagement with ecological form and material culture.
In the gardens, performance artists Haiwen and Lab Ballerina activate Fisher’s interactive sculpture #Puzzled (2017), originally commissioned for The Underline, creating a dynamic interplay between dance, environment and the shifting geometries of the piece. Guests are welcomed with espresso, healing teas, herbal potions, immune-boosting blends and small bites that ease the transition into an unhurried afternoon of observation and reflection.
Last entry is at 3 p.m., with the gardens open until 4:30 p.m. Rideshare or carpooling is encouraged due to limited parking. Admission is $15 for non-members.
