Sade Birthday Tribute
Jan 16, 2026
From: 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM
A live tribute performance celebrates the music and enduring influence of one of soul and R&B’s most recognizable voices in an intimate historic setting.
Sade Birthday Tribute takes place Friday, January 16 at the Dunns-Josephine Hotel in Historic Overtown. The evening honors the career of Sade Adu, the British-Nigerian singer and songwriter whose smooth, understated style helped define sophisticated soul and quiet-storm R&B beginning in the 1980s. As the frontwoman of the band Sade, she is known for timeless songs such as “Smooth Operator,” “Sweetest Taboo,” “No Ordinary Love,” and “By Your Side,” blending jazz, soul, pop, and Afro-Caribbean influences into a sound that remains widely influential.
Guests can expect live performances inspired by Sade’s catalog, paired with an ’80s-themed dress code that nods to the era in which her music first rose to prominence. Free parking is available on site.
The event is hosted at the Dunns-Josephine Hotel, a boutique property rooted in the cultural history of Historic Overtown. Once a gathering place for prominent figures including Josephine Baker, Muhammad Ali, Malcolm X, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the hotel now serves as a community-focused venue highlighting music, culture and local history.
