Jan 08, 2026
From: 7:00 to 8:00 PM
A focused evening conversation examines how contemporary photography expands through material experimentation, conceptual strategy and social engagement.
Scholl Lecture Series: Vik Muniz in Conversation with Franklin Sirmans takes place on Thursday, January 8 at Pérez Art Museum Miami. The public program brings together Muniz and PAMM Director Franklin Sirmans for a discussion centered on the artist’s practice and his ongoing influence within contemporary art.
Muniz, whose work is part of PAMM’s permanent collection and currently featured in Language and Image: Conceptual and Performance-Based Photography from the Jorge M. Pérez Collection, is known for reconstructing familiar images using unconventional materials such as sugar, chocolate and found objects. The conversation explores how these approaches challenge traditional ideas of photography, authorship and visual meaning, while also reflecting Muniz’s long-standing commitment to art as a social and cultural force.
The lecture is free with museum admission. Admission is $18 for adults and free for members. Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
