Sex Mex

Fast, lo-fi synth-punk and bubblegum power-pop collide in a three-band underground bill led by San Antonio project Sex Mex. The Miami stop of the Stockpile Tour takes place Thursday, October 8 at Churchill’s Pub in Little Haiti. South Florida bands Adhesive and Cypher round out the lineup with garage-punk and hardcore sounds.

Led by songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Clark Gray, Sex Mex began as a guitar-driven garage-rock project before incorporating distorted vocals, restless synthesizers and compact pop melodies. The project’s prolific catalog includes releases such as Dubble Bubble Blowout, We’re a Happy Family, Chick Problems and Cold, Not Cute.

Adhesive, based in Hollywood, Florida, adds a local punk presence to the bill, while Miami hardcore band Cypher brings a heavier, more confrontational edge.
