Commemorate the legacy of Latin American hero Simón Bolívar on Thursday, July 25 at the City of Miami Beach's sixth annual celebration of Simón Bolívar y Las Americas Day. This annual event honors the life and accomplishments of Simón Bolívar, a pivotal figure in South American independence. Born in Venezuela in 1783, Bolívar led efforts to the formation of several modern-day nations, including Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama and Peru. The Miami Beach ceremony will feature an invocation, wreath-laying and a focus on Ecuador, the country being highlighted this year. Attendees will also enjoy traditional cafecito following the event.
