Songs of the Diaspora: A Concert Celebration of AfroLatinidad
Mar 21, 2026
Two shows: 2:00 PM and 7:30 PM
Music, storytelling and movement converge in a multidisciplinary exploration of AfroLatinidad at HistoryMiami Museum. Performances take place Saturday, March 21, with each program lasting approximately two hours.
Presented by Hued Songs, this immersive performance experience examines the cultural and historical connections of the Black Caribbean and its diasporic communities. The program blends live music, narrative and artistic expression to trace the rhythms, migrations and shared traditions that shape Afro-Latin identity across the Americas.
Headlining the program is Afro-Latina operatic soprano and scholar Dr. Zuly Inirio, joined by instrumentalists and artists from across the African diaspora. Drawing from African, Afro-Caribbean and Afro-Latin musical traditions, the performance highlights the Caribbean as a living cultural exchange carried through music, language, ritual and collective memory, offering audiences an evening that reflects both ancestral heritage and contemporary artistic voices.
