Soundscape Cinema Series: Sarah's Oil

The remarkable story of Sarah Rector, whose Oklahoma land allotment made her one of the wealthiest Black children in early 20th-century America, comes to the screen at SoundScape Park in Miami Beach. The Wednesday, February 10 presentation of Sarah’s Oil is part of the 17th season of the free SoundScape Cinema Series, which projects films onto the 7,000-square-foot wall of the New World Center.
Directed by Cyrus Nowrasteh, the 2025 historical drama follows 11-year-old Sarah after oil is discovered beneath land allotted to her in Oklahoma Indian Territory. As speculators and businessmen seek control of the valuable property, Sarah relies on her family and allies to protect her interests and secure her financial future.
The PG-rated film is presented outdoors, rain or shine. Attendees may bring blankets and picnic baskets for the screening.
