A young Coriolanus Snow enters the brutal world of the Hunger Games decades before becoming Panem’s authoritarian president in an outdoor screening at SoundScape Park in Miami Beach. The Wednesday, May 5 presentation of The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes is part of the 17th season of the free SoundScape Cinema Series, which projects films onto the 7,000-square-foot wall of the New World Center.
Directed by Francis Lawrence, the 2023 prequel follows 18-year-old Snow as he is assigned to mentor Lucy Gray Baird, a tribute from impoverished District 12, during the 10th Hunger Games. Hoping her success will restore his family’s declining status, Snow becomes increasingly entangled with Lucy Gray as the competition exposes the forces that will shape his future.
The PG-13 film is presented outdoors, rain or shine. Attendees may bring blankets and picnic baskets for the screening.
