Will Smith portrays a struggling father trying to build a more stable future for his young son in an outdoor screening of The Pursuit of Happyness at SoundScape Park in Miami Beach. The Wednesday, February 17 presentation is part of the 17th season of the free SoundScape Cinema Series, which projects films onto the 7,000-square-foot wall of the New World Center.
Directed by Gabriele Muccino, the 2006 biographical drama follows salesman Chris Gardner as financial hardship and homelessness coincide with an unpaid internship at a competitive brokerage firm. While caring for his son, Gardner works to prove himself in the hope of securing a career in finance.
The PG-13 film is presented outdoors, rain or shine. Attendees may bring blankets and picnic baskets for the screening.
