A midday program blends spoken word and movement to reflect on a century of African American literary expression.
Speak Your Mind! 100 Years of African American Literature takes place Thursday, February 19 at Miami Dade College’s Kendall Campus, Room K413, as part of the institution’s Black History Month programming marking the 100th anniversary of the observance. Facilitated by Professors Rita Faradez-Sterling and Michelle Grant-Murray, the event features readings by the Vol. 36 staff, presenting literary selections by African American writers spanning the past century.
The program also incorporates dance improvisations by the Jubilation Dance Ensemble, creating a dialogue between text and movement. Designed as an interdisciplinary celebration of literary and artistic legacy, the event concludes with light refreshments.
