Starting: 10:00 PM
A late-night techno session rooted in Detroit lineage unfolds inside an intimate, underground sound room designed for focused listening and deep club energy.
Stacey Pullen performs on Saturday, January 16, at Jolene Sound Room Miami, presented by Blackflag Recordings, with support from Slugg. A central figure of Detroit techno’s second wave, Pullen, known as the Kosmik Messenger, brings decades of genre-shaping influence shaped under the mentorship of Derrick May, Juan Atkins and Kevin Saunderson. His sets move fluidly between deep, atmospheric techno and exploratory rhythms, reflecting a career defined by innovation rather than formula.
The setting amplifies that approach. Jolene Sound Room Miami is a basement-level venue beneath the historic Julia & Henry building in downtown Miami, widely believed to have once served as an underground liquor tunnel during Prohibition. The room’s midcentury studio-inspired design and carefully tuned sound system prioritize close proximity between artist and audience, creating an environment built for immersive club music rather than spectacle.
Opening the night is Slugg, the Miami-born DJ and producer whose sound blends house, techno and hip-hop influences. Now based in Orlando, Slugg has earned support from international selectors and festival stages including iii Points, EDC Orlando and Okeechobee Music Festival through releases on his Getbusy imprint. Together, the lineup connects Detroit’s foundational techno ethos with Florida’s contemporary underground scene.
