Summer in the Gardens: A Behind the Scenes Guided Tour
Jun 05, 2026
From: 11:30 AM to Noon
Vizcaya’s summertime blooms take the focus during a guided garden tour led by horticulturist Ali Hennessey. The seasonal tour takes place Friday, June 5 at Vizcaya Museum & Gardens and offers a closer look at plant species that thrive in Miami’s warm summer conditions. The program includes general admission to the museum and gardens.
Participants meet at the Admissions Booth before continuing through areas such as the shaded Forecourt, North Walk and Orchidarium, where tropical plants adapted to cooler, low-light conditions are featured. The route also includes views of Biscayne Bay from the East Terrace, with stops at the Secret Garden and Rose Garden to explore species suited to warmer, drier settings.
Hennessey, a Vizcaya horticulturist with a background in architectural studies, art history and historic gardens, will discuss plant care, garden maintenance and the evolving approach to horticulture at the estate. The tour is held rain or shine and is not recommended for children ages 5 and under.
