Tessa Lark: Frost Symphony Orchestra

Violin and percussion share the spotlight in a contemporary concerto pairing Tessa Lark and Svet Stoyanov with the Frost Symphony Orchestra at Gusman Concert Hall. The concert takes place Saturday, February 6 as part of the Frost School of Music’s 2026-2027 season, with Gerard Schwarz conducting. Christopher Theofanidis’ Gemini Sun, a concerto for violin, percussion and orchestra co-commissioned by Frost, forms the centerpiece of the program.

Known for moving between classical repertoire and American roots traditions, Lark brings a wide-ranging musical perspective to the new work, joined by Frost percussion faculty member Stoyanov. The program opens with Paul Creston’s Symphony No. 3, Three Mysteries, whose three movements reflect on the Nativity, Crucifixion and Resurrection through modal writing influenced by Gregorian chant and Creston’s characteristically expansive orchestral style.
