The Bass Dialogues Featuring Pedro & Juana

Architecture, design and contemporary art converge in a conversation with Mexico City-based studio Pedro y Juana at The Bass in Miami Beach. Presented Wednesday, December 2, during Miami Art Week, the discussion features studio founders Ana Paula Ruiz Galindo and Mecky Reuss in conversation with The Bass Artistic Director and Chief Curator Philippe Vergne. The program centers on Aquí, the duo’s site-specific installation at the museum and the ideas behind its immersive approach to space.

Founded by Ruiz Galindo and Reuss, Pedro y Juana works across architecture, art, furniture and installation, often creating environments designed to encourage gathering and interaction. The studio gained international attention as the winner of the 2019 MoMA PS1 Young Architects Program for Hórama Rama, a large-scale cyclorama that transformed the museum courtyard into a vivid, jungle-inspired environment.

At The Bass, Aquí draws on Miami’s subtropical landscape through custom wallpaper, carpeting, sculptural furniture and floral light fixtures arranged as a 360-degree installation. The conversation will examine how those elements developed and how the studio moves between architecture, design and art to reshape the experience of a space.
