The Conservation Lab at Richter: Guided Tour

Gain insight into the behind-the-scenes work that helps preserve library collections during a guided tour of the Conservation Lab at the University of Miami’s Otto G. Richter Library. The Conservation Lab at Richter: Guided Tour takes place on Wednesday, April 30.

Presented by University of Miami Libraries, this free, one-hour program offers a look at the methods and techniques used by the Preservation Strategies department to care for books, manuscripts and other paper-based materials. Attendees will learn how conservators stabilize fragile items, create custom protective housings and prepare materials for exhibitions and long-term use.

The tour provides a rare opportunity to explore the library’s conservation efforts and understand the role preservation plays in maintaining access to historical and research collections.
