A stage adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s iconic novel brings the opulence and underlying tension of the Roaring Twenties to life at the Adrienne Arsht Center. Running January 12 through 17, this South Florida premiere arrives as part of the 2026-27 Broadway in Miami season in the Ziff Ballet Opera House. The production translates the story’s themes of ambition, love and illusion into a large-scale musical format.
The narrative follows the mysterious Jay Gatsby and his pursuit of wealth, status and a lost romance, set against the backdrop of lavish parties and shifting social boundaries in 1920s America. This musical interpretation combines period-inspired design with a contemporary sensibility, underscored by a jazz- and pop-influenced original score.
Directed by Marc Bruni, with choreography by Dominique Kelley and a book by Kait Kerrigan, the production features music and lyrics by Jason Howland and Nathan Tysen. Through its staging and musical approach, the show offers a theatrical reimagining of a well-known American story centered on aspiration and its consequences.
