A sweeping contemporary drama about memory, loss and chosen family continues at the Adrienne Arsht Center as part of the Theater Up Close series. Running on select dates from January 7 through 24, The Inheritance, Part Two is presented by Zoetic Stage and the Adrienne Arsht Center.
Written by Matthew López, the play concludes the story begun in The Inheritance, Part One, following gay men in modern New York as they reckon with the aftermath of the AIDS crisis and the question of what is passed from one generation to the next. The story centers on Eric Glass and Toby Darling as they confront grief, addiction, self-destruction and the possibility of healing.
The production reunites the multicultural cast from Zoetic Stage’s staging of Part One, with a continued emphasis on LGBTQ+ voices within the creative team and community partnerships. As part of the Arsht Center’s 2026-27 Theater Up Close season, the play offers an intimate look at legacy, survival and connection across generations.
