The Prelude: Rashid Johnson X BCF
Through Jan 04, 2026
weekly on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday
From: 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM
A meditation on transition and artistic dialogue unfolds in the Miami Design District as The Prelude, curated by Rashid Johnson, brings together a focused selection of works from the Berkowitz Contemporary Foundation collection. Centered on Johnson’s Untitled #9 (Surrender Painting), the exhibition creates a contemplative environment where form, material and gesture echo across generations of modern and contemporary art.
Johnson’s work anchors the installation, opening a conversation with pieces by Henry Moore, Alberto Giacometti, John McCracken and Cy Twombly. Their presence shapes a shared exploration of vulnerability, abstraction and the expressive potential of surface and silhouette. Natural elements woven throughout the space further extend Johnson’s longstanding interest in organic forms, softening the gallery’s architectural lines and pointing toward the works’ future home at Longleaf Art Park, BCF’s forthcoming large-scale project in northwest Florida.
Presented as part of Miami Design District’s Miami Art Week programming, the exhibition offers an intimate prelude to that larger vision — inviting viewers into a moment suspended between imagination, place and the evolution of an idea.
On view Tuesday-Sunday from December 2 through early 2026 at 151 NE 41st St., Suite 133.
