Ezra Jack Keats’ beloved characters come to the stage through shadow puppetry, music and storytelling in a family production at Miami Theater Center. The Snowy Day and Other Stories is presented Saturday, November 14, as part of MTC’s 2026–27 Family Series in Miami Shores.
The production follows Peter and his friends through adaptations of The Snowy Day, Whistle for Willie, Goggles! and A Letter to Amy. Together, the stories explore childhood curiosity, friendship and everyday discoveries, with shadow puppetry used to recreate the distinctive visual world associated with Keats’ books.
Originally published in 1962, The Snowy Day received the Caldecott Medal and became a landmark in children’s literature for its portrayal of a Black child at the center of an ordinary urban adventure. The stage adaptation is designed for children from preschool through third grade and their families.
