Third Thursdays: Masisi Summer Residency-August
Aug 20, 2026
From: 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Masisi’s summer residency at The Bass culminates with a final evening dedicated to diasporic creativity, queer community and collective joy.
Presented as part of The Bass’ Third Thursdays series, this August program marks the closing chapter of Masisi’s three-part residency activating assume vivid astro focus: XI, the museum’s immersive, floor-to-ceiling installation. Founded by DJ, organizer, and artist Akia Dorsainvil, Masisi is a Black queer Afro-Caribbean collective known for creating spaces where nightlife, storytelling, performance and cultural ritual converge. Throughout the residency, Masisi has invited audiences to experience the exhibition as a living environment shaped by sound, movement and shared presence.
The final installment takes place Thursday, August 20, offering one last opportunity to engage with assume vivid astro focus: XI through Masisi’s distinctive blend of Afro-Caribbean rhythms, contemporary sound and communal gathering. Admission is complimentary with RSVP, with seating available on a first-come, first-served basis. Additional details and the RSVP link will be announced closer to the event.
Third Thursdays are free public programs presented at The Bass on Miami Beach, made possible with support from the Art Bridges Foundation Access for All Program. The evening coincides with the City of Miami Beach Culture Crawl and includes access to free trolley service connecting participating art and culture destinations throughout the night.
