Third Thursdays: Masisi Summer Residency-July
Jul 16, 2026
From: 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Sound, movement and community continue to animate The Bass as Masisi returns for the July installment of its summer residency.
Presented as part of The Bass’ Third Thursdays series, this evening builds on Masisi’s three-part residency activating assume vivid astro focus: XI, the museum’s immersive, floor-to-ceiling installation. Founded by DJ, organizer and artist Akia Dorsainvil, Masisi is a Black queer Afro-Caribbean collective recognized for creating spaces where nightlife, storytelling and performance intersect. Through DJ sets, live activations and communal gathering, the residency invites audiences to experience the exhibition as a living environment shaped by diasporic culture, queer joy and collective expression.
The July program takes place Thursday, July 16, offering another opportunity to engage with the exhibition in an after-hours setting guided by Masisi’s distinctive blend of Afro-Caribbean rhythms, contemporary sound and cultural ritual. Admission is complimentary with RSVP, with seating available on a first-come, first-served basis. Additional details and the RSVP link will be announced closer to the event.
Third Thursdays are free public programs presented at The Bass, on Miami Beach, made possible with support from the Art Bridges Foundation Access for All Program. The evening coincides with the City of Miami Beach Culture Crawl and includes access to free trolley service connecting participating cultural destinations throughout the night.
