Third Thursdays: The Bass Dialogues with Yuko Mohri
Sep 17, 2026
From: 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM
A conversation with artist Yuko Mohri anchors this installment of The Bass Dialogues, part of The Bass’ ongoing Third Thursdays series on Miami Beach.
Japanese-born artist Yuko Mohri is known for kinetic installations and sculptures that respond to environmental forces such as gravity, sound, humidity and electrical current. Working with found and everyday materials, she constructs delicate systems that evolve in real time, foregrounding unpredictability and questioning traditional ideas of control, permanence and authorship in contemporary art.
Mohri joins James Voorhies, Curator-at-Large at The Bass, for a guided discussion exploring her practice, the role of chance in her work and how shifting physical conditions shape both process and outcome. The conversation considers impermanence as a creative strategy and reflects on how responsive systems can expand the language of installation art.
The program takes place Thursday, September 17. Admission is complimentary with RSVP, with limited seating available on a first-come, first-served basis. The RSVP link will be released closer to the event date.
Third Thursdays are free public programs presented at The Bass as part of the City of Miami Beach Culture Crawl, with access to free trolley service connecting participating cultural destinations throughout the evening.
