Timbales-led arrangements, tropical rhythms and big band influences shape a concert celebrating Tito Rodríguez Jr.’s 50 years in music and the legacy of his father, Puerto Rican singer and bandleader Tito Rodríguez. The performance takes place Saturday, October 3 at Pinecrest Gardens.
A bandleader, arranger, composer and producer, Rodríguez Jr. developed his sound through the timbales while drawing on the classic orchestral style associated with his father. His recording career began with the 1975 album Curious? and later expanded to projects including Eclipse, The Big 3 Palladium Orchestra: Live at the Blue Note and Transición.
The program reflects both the family’s musical heritage and Rodríguez Jr.’s own approach to melody, Latin rhythm and contemporary tropical music.
