Vizcaya Late: CAP Lab
May 14, 2025
From: 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM
An evening of student-led innovation and historical reflection unfolds at one of Miami’s most iconic landmarks, where architecture, interior design and contemporary art come together in a rare after-hours experience. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore original, site-specific works that reinterpret Vizcaya’s legacy through the lens of emerging creatives.
Taking place Wednesday, May 14 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., Vizcaya Late: CAP Lab features installations and design projects created by students from Miami Dade College’s School of Architecture and Interior Design. Their work draws inspiration from Pastiche, an exhibition by CAP Artist Lauren Shapiro that explores the influence of Vizcaya’s first Artistic Director, Paul Chalfin. For one night only, the students’ designs will be displayed throughout the museum and gardens, offering a dialogue between past and present in a uniquely immersive setting.
The event includes opportunities to meet the student designers and engage in conversations about their creative process. Guests can also explore Pastiche before it closes on May 19, enjoy food and beverages from Vizcaya’s Café, and opt in for a guided tour highlighting commissioned artworks dating back to James Deering’s era.
