WALLCAST® Concert: Gershwin, Adams & Connesson

Rhythmic momentum, jazz inflections and vivid orchestral color drive a program featuring saxophonist Steven Banks with the New World Symphony Fellows. The free outdoor concert takes place Saturday, May 1 at SoundScape Park in Miami Beach, concluding the 2026-27 WALLCAST® series. Artistic Director Stéphane Denève conducts, with NWS Conducting Fellow Ziwei Ma also appearing on the podium.
The program moves from the mechanical pulse of Honegger’s Pacific 231 and John Adams’ Short Ride in a Fast Machine to Guillaume Connesson’s jazz-inspired A Kind of Trane, featuring Banks. Carlos Simon’s Four Black American Dances and Gershwin’s Catfish Row Suite from Porgy and Bess complete the evening.
The performance will be broadcast live from the New World Center onto its 7,000-square-foot exterior projection wall with accompanying outdoor sound. Guests can bring a blanket or lawn chair and pack a picnic to enjoy during the concert. Admission is free and no ticket is required.
