WALLCAST® Concert: Strange Magic Ravel + Stravinsky

Stravinsky’s vivid puppet ballet and Ravel’s enchanted one-act opera share a program designed to showcase the New World Center’s immersive visual and audio technology. The free outdoor concert takes place Saturday, January 30 at SoundScape Park in Miami Beach. New World Symphony Artistic Director Stéphane Denève conducts the Fellows, with mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard featured in the Ravel opera.
The program opens with Stravinsky’s Pétrouchka, a rhythmically charged ballet centered on three puppets brought to life at a Russian fair. Ravel’s L’enfant et les sortilèges, written with a libretto by Colette, follows a misbehaving child whose surroundings suddenly awaken to confront him.
The performance will be broadcast live from the New World Center onto its 7,000-square-foot exterior projection wall with accompanying outdoor sound. Guests can bring a blanket or lawn chair and pack a picnic to enjoy during the concert. Admission is free and no ticket is required.
