Zoo Lights

More than a million lights, holiday music and seasonal attractions transform Zoo Miami after dark during its annual Zoo Lights celebration. Returning on select nights from November 27 through December 30, the event features illuminated pathways, themed photo stops, character appearances and a 26-foot LED holiday tree.

Opening night on Friday, November 27 includes a 7 p.m. tree-lighting ceremony and performances by Yuletide carolers. Additional attractions throughout the run include Santa appearances through December 23, an animal presentation at the Sami Family Amphitheater, letters to Santa, holiday shopping and a new train ride.

Zoo Lights takes place from 6:30 to 10 p.m. on November 27 and 28 and December 4, 5, 11, 12, 18–23 and 26–30. Because the event takes place after regular zoo hours, many animals may be resting and animal viewing is not a primary part of the experience.
