Step into a glowing world of holiday magic as Zoo Miami lights up the night with one of South Florida’s most beloved seasonal traditions.

Zoo Lights invites families and visitors of all ages to experience the zoo after dark, transformed into a twinkling landscape of over one million lights. Enjoy festive music, holiday treats and themed evenings that make each visit unique. From Santa sightings to illuminated trails and interactive shows, the event blends wonder, wildlife and holiday cheer in a setting unlike any other.

Highlights & Attractions

• Opening Night & Tree Lighting Ceremony – Friday, November 21 at 7 p.m.
  Celebrate the official start of Zoo Lights with the illumination of a 26-foot LED holiday tree and a performance by the Yuletide Carolers.

• Over One Million Lights
  Wander through dazzling displays of trees, pathways and animal-themed installations, creating a glowing wonderland throughout the zoo grounds.

• 26-Foot LED Holiday Tree
  A towering centerpiece that lights up the night sky in vibrant color, serving as a perfect photo backdrop and gathering point for families.

• Santa Appearances (Through December 23)
  Meet and take photos with Santa before he heads back to the North Pole.

• “Jingle Paws & Santa Claws” at the Sami Family Amphitheater
  This original animal presentation blends holiday storytelling with fascinating wildlife facts as the Wild Connection team shares “letters to Santa” from the zoo’s animal ambassadors.
  Showtimes: 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

• Character Meet-and-Greets
  Encounter festive costumed characters for fun interactions and photo opportunities throughout the evening.

• Themed Photo Spots
  Capture the moment at immersive holiday backdrops designed for family pictures and selfies under the lights.

• Letters to Santa Station
  Children can write and mail letters to Santa at a dedicated area filled with stationery and festive decorations.

• Arctic Express Train Ride (additional fee)
  Take a ride aboard the Arctic Express for a scenic loop through the illuminated grounds—a family favorite that adds a touch of adventure to the night.

• Holiday Shopping at the Zoo Gift Shop
  Find unique wildlife-themed gifts, ornaments and souvenirs to commemorate the experience.

• Nov. 21–22: Classic Zoo Lights – Celebrate the timeless charm of the season with festive flair and nostalgic holiday style.

• Nov. 28: Let It Glow! – Wear your brightest LED accessories, neon colors and twinkling outfits.

• Nov. 29: Retro Holidays – Step back into the ’80s with glittery sweaters, vintage looks and over-the-top holiday fashion.

• Dec. 5–6: Country Christmas – Break out your denim, flannel and cowboy boots for a rustic celebration.

• Dec. 12–13: Zoo-per Hero Nights – Dress as your favorite superhero or animal-inspired character.

• Dec. 19–20: Happily Ever After – Little princes, princesses and magical creatures bring fairy tales to life.

• Dec. 21–22: Pajamas & Ugly Sweaters – Get cozy in festive PJs or wear your tackiest holiday sweater.

• Dec. 26–28: Galactic Nights – Explore the galaxy in sci-fi and space-themed attire.

• Dec. 29–30: The Final Frost – Close out the season in elegant, all-white winter style.
