Miami’s Hottest Events In September

Labor Day might mean the beginning of fall in much of America, but in Miami, summer lives on. That means you’ll still find beachside music festivals, unbelievable deals at local hotels and restaurants – and fewer crowds. But we still do some fall things in Miami, including the return of college football and the exciting conclusion of baseball season. Read on to find fun things to do in Greater Miami & Miami Beach this September.

Miami Hotel Months and Miami Spice

Throughout September

Miami restaurants and hotels continue their sizzling summer specials in September. Iconic Miami and Miami Beach properties offer deep discounts during Miami Hotel Months. Participating Miami Spice restaurants – including recent recipients of Michelin stars – serve $28 lunch/brunch and prix fixe dinner menus for $45 or $60.

Now and Then

September 1 – 11

When a closing bartender and his girlfriend get a hard-to-refuse offer from a last-minute customer, they learn a touching lesson in love and life. “Now and Then” tells their story at Actors’ Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre in Coral Gables, with shows at 8 p.m. Wednesday – Sunday and a 3 p.m. Sunday matinee.

Orange Blossom Classic

September 1-4

Deion Sanders’ Jackson State Tigers take on the Florida A&M Rattlers at Hard Rock Stadium for the culminating event of the 48th Orange Blossom Classic on Sept. 4. But the weekend-long celebration of HBCUs is far more than a football game as a Thursday afternoon golf tournament, welcome reception and Battle of the Bands fill Labor Day weekend.

Surfside Summer Fridays

September 2

The Town of Surfside continues its Summer Fridays beach party series starting at 4 p.m. Live music, surfing demonstrations, henna tattoos, bubble soccer and an all-ages drum circle provide fun for the entire family.

Miami Hurricanes Football

September 3, 10 and 24

The University of Miami Hurricanes made big waves this off-season as new coach Mario Cristobal put together one of the best recruiting classes in school history. See if it translates to on-field success as the Canes take on Bethune-Cookman on September 3, Southern Mississippi on September 10 and Middle Tennessee State on September 24. All games are at Hard Rock Stadium; gates open for tailgating four hours prior to kickoff.

Frost Science Museum Laser Evening

September 9

Watch colorful lasers projected on a 67-foot planetarium dome dance to your favorite songs at the Frost Museum of Science’s Laser Evenings. The September edition starts with the family-friendly Symphony of the Stars at 7 p.m. The fun continues with the music of Lady Gaga at 8 p.m., Stranger Things at 9 p.m., Foo Fighters at 10 p.m. and The Beatles: Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band at 11 p.m.

Miami Marlins

September 9-25

The Miami Marlins close out their 2022 home schedule with a couple of September homestands. The New York Mets come to town for a weekend series September 9-11, with a pregame wine tasting on the 9th and beer fest on the 10th. The Chicago Cubs visit Loan Depot Park September 19-21, with a Taco Tuesday game on the 20th where fans will receive two tacos and a beer with their $25 ticket.

Hispanic Heritage Month

September 15 – October 15

Miami joins in the national celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month in September and October.

Siempre Flamenco's Festival de Cante Miami

September 16-18

The intimate environs of the Adrienne Arsht Center’s Carnival Studio Theater provide an especially intense environment for this year’s Siempre Flamenco’s Festival de Cante Miami. The festival welcomes top singers Macarena de Jerez, Morenito de Illora and Jose Campos and a lineup of acclaimed dancers and musicians to the 2022 performance.

Kevin Hart Reality Check Comedy Tour

September 17-18

Comedian Kevin Hart’s Reality Check tour hits FTX Arena for a full weekend of shows. Cell phones won’t be allowed inside, so be prepared to completely disconnect and laugh your face off.

Feel Good Music Fest

September 18

Formerly known as the Miami Beach Reggae Fest, the Feel Good Music Fest expands its appeal for 2022, adding new genres to the lineup for September’s best showcase of international music. This year’s performers include Inner Circle (known for the COPS theme song), as well as Latin reggae acts Bahiano and Gondwana, plus Venezuelan reggae rock performer Bachaco. The show kicks off at 4 p.m. at the Miami Beach Bandshell.

Karol G $trip Love Tour

September 22-23

Colombian reggaeton sensation Karol G brings her $trip Love tour to FTX Arena for two shows at 8 p.m. The 2018 Latin Grammy winner for best new artist will perform hits like “Tusa,” “MAMIII,” and “Provenza,” and may or may not welcome a few surprise guests.

Billboard Latin Music Week

September 26-30

The Billboard Latin Music Awards return to UM’s Watsco Center on Sept. 29th, but the glitzy awards ceremony is just one part of an unprecedented week of Latin music and education. The Faena Forum will also host daily seminars and roundtables on the state of Latin Music. Each night concludes with concerts from names like Blessd, Camilo and Nicky Jam.
