Grapeland Water Park is one-of-a-kind splash park designed by famed Miami pop artist Romero Britto makes for a fun-filled outdoor adventure for families with young children. The pirate-themed water park near Miami International Airport is filled with Britto’s colorful cartoon-like characters, from an enormous octopus to pirate ships and fish swimming under the sea.
Waterslides & Pools
Located in the Airport area, Grapleand boasts waterslides, a lazy river, a pool and shallow water play areas with water buckets and cannons. At just 13 acres, the relatively small park is best suited for younger, school-aged children. The park consists of four main attractions including Captain’s Lagoon, a recreational pool with a gradual, beach-like entry and a maximum depth of six feet, and Buccaneer River Ride, a lazy river where you can plop down on a large inflatable inner tube and let the current carry you away. There are also two shipwreck-themed water slide areas, one designated for toddlers and their parents and another where bigger kids can splash and play.
Lifeguards & Snack Bar
Safety is a top priority. Staffed with lifeguards and equipped with life jackets, you’re in good hands at Grapeland. There’s also a concession stand for when your family gets hungry and needs an afternoon break.
This family-friendly water park features four pools with slides, tube rides and recreational swimming. Pirates Plunge has slides and shallow water for kids 5 and under; Shipwreck Island has fast slides for kids 6 and older; Captain’s Lagoon is a large recreational pool for the whole family; and the Buccaneer River Ride is a tube ride that winds around the whole park. Open daily from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. in the summer, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. October through April. Admission is free for children ages 3 and under; $5 for ages 4 through 13; $7 for City of Miami residents 14 and older; and $10 for non residents 14 and older.
