The Patio at The Joyce

Now open along that historic tourist magnet, Española Way, is The Joyce, a steakhouse with a dark, speakeasy-esque atmosphere. It’s the first venture from the group Spicy Hospitality, which is made up of art collector Andre Sakhai, entrepreneur Marc Lotenberg and Chef James Taylor. The restaurant, located next to Paperfish Sushi, seats 45, with a sleek modern bar, and serves classic steakhouse cuisine. Taylor, who trained at Le Cordon Bleu in Chicago, has worked at three different Michelin-starred restaurants. He began his career at Bavette’s Bar & Bouef in Chicago, which has one star, then moved on to another starred restaurant, Roister, where he was executive sous chef. Later, he was chef de tournant at Alinea, which earned a coveted three-star Michelin rating. The menu at The Joyce includes seafood as well as steaks, including shrimp cocktail, crudo, a snapper filet sandwich and King Crab scampi, plus items like caviar and latkes. The cuts of meat include ribeye and A5 wagyu. But dining at The Joyce extends beyond its dimly lit walls. There’s also The Window at the Joyce, which opened in December and is also overseen by Taylor, who wanted to offer the best possible burger to customers. At The Window, diners can order more than burgers, though. The menu also includes fish and chicken sandwiches, wings, milkshakes, chopped salads and more. You can order at the window for takeout or grab a bite and sit outside on the patio and enjoy the Miami Beach breeze.
