Since Westchester has a population that’s over 80 percent Hispanic, it’s not surprising that you’ll find a great variety of delicious Latin cuisine, including Cuban, Colombian, Chilean, Salvadoran and Mexican. But other local favorites include great Chinese dim sum, a 60-year-old mom and pop pizza joint and a 50-year-old, family-owned, homey, no frills hot dog hut!

Florida International University (FIU) is home to The Patricia and Phillip Frost Art Museum, featuring rotating exhibits, tours and receptions. You can also catch a performance by the Theater Department, or enjoy a peaceful night of star-gazing at the Stocker Astroscience Center, a fully equipped, modern observatory and research center. For the outdoor enthusiast, Westchester’s Tropical Park offers many amenities, including different fields, courts, trails and zones that facilitate enjoying a variety of sports, youth sports leagues, and family activities.

Interest in an area is usually heightened when there’s a good celebrity connection, so here it is — popular rap artist, Pitbull (aka Mr. 305), graduated from Miami Coral Park High School in Westchester.
