Accounting Specialist II - Miami International Airport

Join HMSHost at Miami International Airport as an Accounting Specialist II. This position is responsible for performing a variety of accounting functions, including general accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.

The Accounting Specialist II supports the accounting department by maintaining financial records, preparing reports, resolving discrepancies with banks and vendors, and ensuring accurate financial processes. This non-exempt position typically reports to the Operations Controller or Staff Accountant.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accounting logs and ledgers to support period-end closing.
• Assist management with preparing financial reports, records, and bills for the corporate office.
• Support accounts receivable functions, including daily cash and sales reporting, over/short notices, and voucher audits.
• Process accounts payable invoices and research discrepancies or unpaid invoices.
• Assist with bi-weekly payroll processing, payroll register reviews, and check requests.
• Conduct cash-handling audits and track cashier and blind drop audits.
• Evaluate financial reports and identify potential discrepancies.
• Use reporting tools to identify control deficiencies and implement procedures to minimize losses.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum of three years of payroll and/or clerical accounting experience.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow instructions, correspondence, and company policies.
• Basic keyboarding skills and ability to perform repetitive administrative tasks.
