100 Women Drumming
May 15, 2025
From: 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM
Enter a shared space of sound, movement and transformation as 100 women gather for a drumming and ritual theatre experience rooted in ancient myth and personal renewal.
On Sunday, May 18, 100 Women Drumming: A Ritual Theatre Ceremonial Experience by Drum Temple will be held at The Sacred Space Miami, presented by Modern ŌM. Inspired by the myth of the Sumerian goddess Inanna and her descent into the underworld, this immersive event combines djembe drumming, vocal activation, dance and storytelling in a guided journey through symbolic death and rebirth.
The evening begins with a ceremonial procession, followed by tea, meditation, movement and communal drumming. Participants will be guided by ritual artists including Violetta Moon Bird (vocals), JKali (soundscape), Cynthia Zak (shamanic flute) and Katie Berns Lee (facilitator). The experience encourages women to reclaim drumming as a source of healing, empowerment, and connection.
Participants must bring or rent a djembe drum in advance—tickets and drum rentals must be secured ahead of time, as none will be available at the door. Doors open at 6:00 p.m., and the ceremony begins promptly at 7:00 p.m. All attendees are asked to wear black, with a veil if available, and bring a shamanic drum if they have one.
This women-only event is part of Modern ŌM’s ongoing commitment to transformative spiritual wellness programming in Miami.
