5 String Swing
Jan 04, 2026
Starting: 5:00 PM
A lively swing and gypsy jazz performance brings classic rhythms to an open-air lawn setting along Ocean Drive, inviting listeners to settle in with a picnic blanket or lawn chair and enjoy live music by the beach. The program draws on the spirited tradition of early jazz and dance music, balancing virtuosic playing with an easygoing, community-focused atmosphere.
Led by jazz violinist Dr. Steffen Zeichner, 5 String Swing features guitar, upright bass, clarinet and cajon, delivering fresh interpretations of swing and gypsy jazz inspired by the Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli era alongside selections from the Great American Songbook. Their sound blends tight ensemble interplay with an upbeat, vintage sensibility well suited to an outdoor afternoon concert.
5 String Swing takes place Sunday, January 4 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Lummus Park on Miami Beach, between 14th Street and 14th Place. The performance is part of the Ocean Drive Promenade Music Series, a free weekly concert series presented by the Ocean Drive Association and underwritten by the City of Miami Beach, the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Ocean Drive Association. In the event of rain, the concert will move indoors to The Betsy Hotel.
