America Touched, America Seen: A World Sight Day Celebration
Oct 08, 2026
From: 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM
Tactile art and live music frame a World Sight Day program centered on artists, musicians and singers who are blind or visually impaired. Presented Thursday, October 8 at the Coral Gables Museum, the evening highlights America Touched, America Seen, an exhibition of tactile and mixed-media works exploring the United States through texture, color and personal perspective.
The reception includes live music by Latin Grammy-nominated violinist and Miami Lighthouse Music Director Oman Pedreira, guitarist and composer Leo Quintero and saxophonist Jeff Zavac. The Miami Lighthouse United Voices Choir, accompanied by Choir Director Victor Castillo, will perform patriotic selections and two original songs marking America’s 250th anniversary and reflecting themes of resilience, independence and possibility.
Presented with Miami Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired, the program also includes remarks, refreshments and time to explore the exhibition and meet participating artists. With the exception of instructors Pedreira and Castillo, all featured artists, musicians and singers are blind or visually impaired. Admission is free.
