Engage with an award-winning activist whose personal journey sparked a nationwide movement for social change. An Evening with Cristina Jimenez will take place on Wednesday, June 4, at Books & Books, presented in partnership with the Books & Books Literary Foundation.
The event will feature MacArthur "Genius" grant recipient Cristina Jimenez discussing her new book, Dreaming of Home: How We Turn Fear into Pride, Power, and Real Change (St. Martin's Press). Originally from Ecuador, Jimenez arrived in the United States in 1998 and grew up undocumented in Queens, New York. She will share her remarkable story of transformation from immigrant youth to becoming the co-founder and former executive director of United We Dream, the largest immigrant youth-led organization in the U.S. Her memoir explores personal experiences and highlights the growth of a social movement that has profoundly impacted millions of lives.
This free event provides attendees the chance to hear directly from a TIME 100 Most Influential Person on themes of belonging and building community power in the face of systemic challenges.
