An Evening with Rita Molinero and Yolanda Izquierdo
Jan 09, 2026
From: 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM
A literary gathering unfolds at Books & Books in Coral Gables as editors Rita Molinero and Yolanda Izquierdo present La seducción del ritmo y el Caribe, a new volume dedicated to the legacy of renowned writer Antonio Benítez Rojo. The evening offers an introduction to the book’s themes, which revisit the author’s expansive view of Caribbean culture and the rhythmic, layered nature of his thought.
Molinero and Izquierdo will discuss the origins of the project and the process of bringing together the diverse voices that shape the collection. Their conversation highlights the plurality of Caribbean perspectives reflected in the book, from its tonal range to its homage to Benítez Rojo’s influential works, including The Repeating Island. The discussion will be moderated by Yolanda Martínez-San Miguel.
Free to attend with recommended reservations, this program invites readers to explore the literary, cultural and intellectual impact of one of the Caribbean’s most essential writers.
This event takes place Friday, January 9.
