Sep 17, 2025
Starting: 7:00 PM
Uncover the hidden life of one of the most enigmatic figures in Cold War-era espionage during a conversation that blends personal history with geopolitical intrigue.
On Wednesday, September 17 at 7:00 p.m., An Evening with Sean Oliver and Ricardo Morales, Jr. takes place at Books & Books in Coral Gables. The authors will discuss their new book Monkey Morales: The True Story of a Mythic Cuban Exile, Assassin, CIA Operative, FBI Informant, Smuggler, and Dad (Post Hill Press), which traces the chaotic and often contradictory life of Ricardo “Monkey” Morales Navarrete. From covert CIA missions and FBI intelligence work to bomb plots, drug smuggling and alleged ties to Lee Harvey Oswald, Morales’s story spans some of the most turbulent chapters in 20th-century American and Cuban history. The book blends declassified intelligence, family accounts and investigative reporting to offer a rare portrait of a man who lived at the crossroads of ideology, violence and survival.
Co-author Sean Oliver is an award-winning writer, actor and voice artist with over a hundred credits in film and television. He has authored eight books and teaches in New Jersey. Ricardo Morales, Jr.—the second of Morales’s four children—brings a personal perspective to the narrative. He has spoken about his father’s legacy on NPR, Spyscape and other national platforms.
Admission is free and books will be available for purchase.
