Aug 07, 2025
From: 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM
Get an inside look at the extraordinary journey of one of the world’s most acclaimed chefs during an evening of conversation, resilience and culinary insight.
On Thursday, August 7, Books & Books Coral Gables will host An Evening with Curtis Duffy, where the celebrated Michelin-starred chef will discuss his new memoir Fireproof: Memoir of a Chef. Known for his precision in the kitchen and unflinching personal story, Duffy recounts a path shaped by trauma, loss and unrelenting ambition—from a turbulent upbringing in Ohio to the heights of global fine dining.
Fireproof offers a candid look at the personal costs and triumphs behind Duffy’s rise, including his tenure at some of the most respected kitchens in the country, the loss of his parents, the collapse of his first restaurant and the creation of his latest project, Ever—awarded two Michelin stars despite launching amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Duffy, whose life has been chronicled in the Netflix documentary For Grace and referenced in Hulu’s The Bear, brings a rare openness to his work and life. The event will feature a moderated discussion, audience Q&A and book signing. Admission is free, and copies of Fireproof will be available for purchase at the event. Early arrival is recommended.
