From: 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM
A film screening series highlights Miami poets through short works that combine performance, place and storytelling.
Brinkerhoff Poetry Foundation Film Screenings takes place Thursday, April 16 at The Bass on Miami Beach as part of Miami Beach Culture Crawl and the O, Miami Poetry Festival. The program premieres Read By Miami, a collection of ten short films featuring local poets reading both their own work and selections by other writers.
Participating poets include Tom Healy, Caridad Moro-Gronlier, Christell Victoria Roach, Jaswinder Bolina and Ruben Rabasa, each reflecting the cultural and literary diversity of Miami-Dade County. Filmed on location throughout the region, the series offers a visual and auditory portrait of the city’s poetic voices.
Directed by Cuban-American filmmaker Eric Felipe-Barkin and shot by Jorge Gonzalez Graupera, the project blends poetry, film and local context to create an accessible viewing experience. Presented in collaboration with the Adrian Brinkerhoff Poetry Foundation, the screening aligns with ongoing efforts to expand access to poetry across communities.
