Afro-Cuban repertory and contemporary Cuban rhythms come to the Miami Beach Bandshell with the return of Buena Vista Orchestra. The concert takes place Saturday, November 21. Presented by LPR, the performance features an ensemble connected to the legacy of Buena Vista Social Club, Afro-Cuban All Stars and other major figures in Cuban and Latin music.
Led by Cuban violinist and arranger Rolando Morejón Reyes, Buena Vista Orchestra brings together a rotating lineup of musicians with ties to Cuban son, Latin jazz, salsa and related traditions. The ensemble’s members have performed with or drawn from the musical worlds of Omara Portuondo, Celia Cruz, Chucho Valdés, Willie Colón, Cachao López, Oscar D’León and other influential artists.
The Miami Beach performance arrives as the orchestra continues a new chapter that includes a forthcoming studio album, live recordings and international tour dates. Audiences can expect traditional Cuban rhythms alongside contemporary influences, with vocals, percussion, brass and strings carrying forward a repertory rooted in Cuba’s rich musical history.
